And that's when it hit me. Disney got it wrong!
Gaston's not the bad guy, he's the HERO of the story! He's MY hero! And
I'll tell you why.
Great Taste in Women This is obvious. Belle is a mechanic's daughter! *_* She's smart and
strong (as a person) too! Gaston could have picked from anyone, yet, he
chose her.
Loyal Gaston is very loyal to Belle. I mean common. He had those hot triplets
practically throwing themselves onto his lap. Yet, he stayed true to
Belle and resisted. The only logical explanation is that he truely
loved Belle and dedicated himself to her. Any other strapping young
bachelor would have gone and had his way with these three. But Gaston
was better than that.
He'll Protect Your HonourGaston would constantly defend Belle from all the verbal insults she
endured. He was a men among men and stood up for her. He would not let
ANYONE insult the person he cared for.
"Don't talk about my father that way!"
"Yeah! Don't talk about her father that way!" Roughly the Size of a Barge Yup.
Fearless When Belle was taken prisoner against her will, Gaston didn't let that
go. He bravely confronted her captor, even though it was a monsterous
beast! Not only did he confront the beast, (who was clearly stronger
and bigger than he was) he fought him head on, like the great man he
was despite the impossible odds.
If any other man were to stare the Beast in the eyes, they would have
crapped their pants 20 times over before even TRYING to take a swing.
Not only did Gaston over come this, he fought this monster head on,
with his bear hands and brains. He could have used a gun, but that is
not Gaston's way.
Ninja Not many people know, but Gaston had mastered the way of the ninja.
HonorableAs stated before, Gaston risked his life for Belle and fought the
Beast. But unfortunately, the Beast was a dirty cheater. Even with
claws AND horns in his arsenal, he still couldn't beat Gaston, who was
armed with but a measly knife. Gaston had actually WON the battle by
fatally wounding the savage monster, but the Beast underhandedly used
the magic spell "Resurection" and revived himself. The Beast had to
rely on dirty tricks and magic in order to win. Yet, did you hear
Gaston complain? No. He faced these odds head on despite the obvious
disadvantage he had.
If that wasn't enough, he also put Belle under hypnosis after reviving himself.
Look at those eyes. Scary.
A Gentlemen's Gentlemen Unlike the schemeing Beast who kidnapped her and held her captive, Gaston courted Belle like a gentleman should.
As you can see, Disney messed up in the translation somewhere. Anyone
who would stand up against a 8-foot-tall monster for a girl is the REAL
hero. Gaston a prime example of this. Not only did he constantly resist
the temptation of the hot triplets, he risked his own life to avenge
what the Beast did to Belle and her father. He is champion of
everything, because "No one can (insert verb here) like Gaston."
